Faith Formation

Family Faith Formation

Our parish recognizes the tremendous value of youth and adults. Family Faith Formation is our opportunity to assist each other the journey to lifelong faith formation. It’s designed to get Catholics of all ages to know their faith better and include it across all aspects of their lives.

The program curriculum covers various themes and topics within scripture, church teachings and Catholic traditions. Classes are held on the first Wednesday of every month September through May beginning with Liturgy at 5:15 p.m., our shared meal at 6:00 p.m., and class time between 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

For more information contact Family Faith Formation coordinator Belinda Wickham at 605-255-5353.

The Edge group meets in the Edge Room in the basement of the rectory on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from September to May. Please contact Belinda Wickham at 605-255-5353 for additional information to enroll or to volunteer as an adult team member.

Life Teen is a movement within the Roman Catholic Church that leads teenagers (grades 9th – 12th) and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. Cursillo is an apostolic movement of the Roman Catholic Church focusing on showing Christian lay people how to become effective Christian leaders over the course of a three-day weekend. The weekend includes fifteen talks, some given by priests and some by lay people. These talks are called “rollos”. The major emphasis of the weekend is to ask participants to take what they have learned back into the world, on what is known as the “fourth day.” The method stresses personal spiritual development and a weekly group reunion (after the weekend).

For those men who have made their Cursillo weekend, a weekly men’s meeting is held at the St. John’s Parish Center on Thursday mornings throughout the year (confirm times during summer months) at 7am. For more information, call Jim Brickey at 605-673-4741.

For women who have made their Cursillo weekend, a weekly women’s meeting is held in a private residence on Monday mornings at 9am. For more information, call Cathy Brickey at 605-673-4741.

If you are an adult and would like to learn more about the Cursillo movement, please contact Jim or Cathy Brickey at 605-673-4741.
